About the Author
Richard Edwards, in March 2009, was pleased to discover that he and Troy both felt that this life story was worth telling.
Richard was born in Attalla, Alabama, and remembers many of the descriptive scenes/sites and similar events described in the book.
As a young lad, Richard attended the same elementary school as Troy and a junior high and high school on the same site. He was highly parental, sibling, and self-motivated, loved academics and sports, and like Troy, was not afraid of work. He had the opportunity to do after-school and summer work at Stewart’s Drug Store on W. Fifth Avenue in Attalla. His family training and values made him a very good and dependable delivery boy. His dreams and family support carried him much further.
Richard graduated from Norris High School (Attalla, Al), Florida A & M University (Tallahassee, Fl) and Jacksonville State University (Jacksonville, Al). He served time in the United States Army and, most of his life, has been an active participant in many worthwhile community activities.
Richard (also known as Dick) has practiced pharmacy in Etowah County and the surrounding areas since 1961.
He has retired several times but, in the face of market needs for pharmacist, has allowed professional associates to call him back to the marketplace.
He currently does limited part-time work with the intent to quit for good very soon.
